final touches
Today we put the final coat of paint on the peapod. On Tuesday it will be towed out to Matinicus Island.
Making the waterline was a challenge. It's supposed to be 4.5" from the bottom of the keel, but with the curve of the boat and the texture of the planks, it's really difficult to get a fair curve. In the end, we used a laser level, and it came out nicely. Viewed from the side, it looks like a straight line:
But from the top (or bottom), it looks like this:
