The strawberries are done! We harvested the last few berries yesterday afternoon, and finished the day by 6:15. X and I were so giddy at getting off work early on a Saturday that we decided to go check out Captain Billy's Crab House, which is located near the farm, over the Potomac. We ordered six crabs to share, and the waitress gave us a quick lesson in crab-eating. "Just don't eat the lungs or this yellow squiggly stuff." "Squiggly stuff?" I asked X after the waitress had gone. "I think it's almost worse that she didn't tell us what it actually is." "Maybe she's not allowed to say 'poop'" X mused. Anyway, we had our Maryland crab experience and watched the sun set over the river, and we agreed that it was an expensive and time-consuming way to consume a tiny bit of meat, and we probably wouldn't make a habit of eating here.

What comes next? It looks like the cherry tomatoes are getting ripe...

The yellow squiggly stuff in the frogs we dissected in junior high was the fallopian tubes...of course, those were amphibians, not crustaceans...

I should have added--the term "squiggly" was especially misleading because it wasn't really squiggly. The stuff she was talking about looked like the filling from deviled eggs (according to me) or baby poop (according to Xochi).
