I’ve spent a lot of time complaining about mice. I think it’s only fair that I also devote some space to talking about my favorite Nicaraguan animal: the gecko. These are the reasons why I like geckos:
- geckos are cute
- geckos eat insects
- geckos do not want to eat me or my food
- geckos do not want to get in my bed
- geckos prefer vertical surfaces, and I prefer horizontal surfaces, so we don’t get in each other’s way
- geckos make a cute “chup chup chup chup chup” noise that sounds like someone chuckling.
Also, a special shout-out to the rooster who caught a mouse the other day. Some people say that the mouse was already dead when you caught it, but I’d like to give you the benefit of the doubt. You are forgiven for pooping on my shoe.
